SIG-6 – (Senior Ingenuity Group) started with 6 men: John, Ron, Ken E, Bert, David B, and Ken C. It was the summer of 2023 and we were asked to assemble some metal shelving for our church’s thrift store.
Soon after, this same team got together to replace some flooring in the kitchen of a trailer. The trailer’s owner was a single woman who could not afford to have any regular maintenance done on her home. We soon realized that there are many people “on the margins” that Jesus calls us to care for – the poor, the widow, the orphan, and the foreigner.
Helping this “Quartet of the Vulnerable” has become the main focus of the SIG-6 ministry. Our team never charges anyone for materials or labor. However, we do accept donations from those who are able and want to give. Thus, we began our journey of volunteering to help others with handyman tasks, especially those who can least afford it.
